GUEST BLOGGER: In Search Of Peace

Hello dear readers,
If you have gone to the home section of qvtestdrive.com, you will have seen an interesting article about spring cleaning your mind.
For the last couple of months, I have been trying to spring clean my life. This year has been a particularly turbulent one for me and some of my loved ones, and I found going back to the basics and maintaining
a simpler life better for my mental and emotional wellbeing. It is still in the works though..
1) Detach from unnecessary acquaintanceships.
In this age of technology, it is easy to get on multiple social media platforms and connect with friends and acquaintances. However, this adds on complications. Humans, as everyone knows, are complex creatures and sometimes it can be difficult to identify the genuine people from.. all the others. With the additional social media angle, people may feel obliged to ‘friend’ another person solely because they are from the same social circle.
I have friends who experienced social media fatigue. Facebook, twitter, google +, linkedin, plurk.. The list goes on. One is virtually connected all the time, leaving no space nor rest for the person.
Early this year, I took a big step and deactivated my Facebook account. It was bringing me grief and unhappiness, and I decided that I can do without it.
2) Love yourself
It can be in any form. Treat yourself to a pampering facial package. Go for a hair treatment with a head massage. Buy that dress that you have been eyeing at for months.
For me, I exercise (http://www.qvtestdrive.com/2011/07/guest-blogger-that-motivation-factor/). I take it as loving my body and giving it what it deserves. Exercising gives me an outlet to channel my emotions and
I usually feel better after working out.
3) Take note of the little things that make you happy
It is the little things that matter. You will learn to appreciate things and people, and not take them for granted. I did a #projecthappy hashtag on Twitter to note down stuff that makes me happy everyday.
Try it! You may discover new old things.
4) Tidy your room / house
This is always therapeutic for me. How much does it help your mental and emotional state when you return to a messy, dirty home? I feel disorganised when my room is disorganised. There is a certain method to tidying your room and feeling your stress dissipates.
5) Give yourself some space and me-time
This is most important to me. At the end of a tiring day, all I want is some quiet and space to do my own things and wind down. It is not being selfish or anti-social. It is quality time to relax, regroup and recharge.
Be good now,
