GUEST BLOGGER: Starmist – Doctors Never Told Me This

Happy new year to you lovely readers! I hope 2011 has been fine for you so far.

How has the weather been for you? Here in Singapore, it has been pretty cooling the last month, which is queer for Singapore lies close to the equator and is usually hot Hot HOT. With this wonderful temperature lately, my eczema is under control and I am a happy girl.

It has not always been peachy though. 2 years back, the frequency of my flare-ups was escalating and nothing I did helped. Not anti-histamines, not steroid creams, not the controlling of my diet. Desperate,
I ‘whined’ to my online mates and one of them suggested trying out something which worked for him.

In came Omega 3, a health supplement. Omega 3 is a fatty acid (docosahexaenoic acid [DHA] and eicosapentaenoic acid [EPA]) that cannot be manufactured by our bodies and must therefore
be obtained through our diet. It is in abundance in fish and fish oil.

I read up a little about Omega 3 and most sites cited Omega 3 being a great supplement for those
with heart problems. Heart problems? I couldn’t understand the link between that and eczema,
and was puzzled. Upon more research, I found that Omega 3 oils have potent anti-inflammatory
properties in them and skin conditions are usually caused by inflammation.

Naturally, I did not know about all these prior to consuming the Omega 3 capsules. I was just desperate
to do anything, anything that may possibly help.

After 2 days of taking the Omega 3 capsules (3 times a day, after meals), I literally felt the difference in my body. The heat in my body was reduced. My itch went down, though not totally gone. The redness on my skin from my constant scratching faded. That was certainly quick! Why is it that doctors never suggested this? Instead, I got pills, pills and more pills for my condition.

That was in late 2009. I have been taking Omega 3 ever since and it helped me tremendously.
As everybody’s conditions differ, I cannot guarantee that this will work for everyone. It did for me,

it did not for another friend of mine who suffers from severe atopic dermatitis. It is not a miracle pill
and will not cure eczema, but seeing how it has reduced my itch factor by about… 75%, I want to
share this with you readers. Hopefully this helps someone.. somewhere in this globe.

With love,
starmist
